How to Add a Countdown Timer to Password Page

Build anticipation for your store launch by adding a countdown timer to your password-protected "Coming Soon" page.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Create a new timer: Go to Timers and click "Create timer".
  2. Choose a template: Select the "Full screen" or "Top" template for maximum impact.
  3. Configure Basic Settings:
    • Timer name: "Store Launch Countdown" (internal use).
    • Timer type: "One-time (fixed end date)".
  4. Set your launch date and time:
    • In "One-time Timer Configuration", set your exact store launch date and time.
    • Consider your timezone settings to ensure accuracy.
  5. Add your launch message:
    • Timer title: "Our Store Launches In"
    • Timer description: "Get ready for an amazing shopping experience"
    • Button text: "Notify Me" or "Get Early Access" (optional)
    • Button URL: Link to a signup form or email collection page
  6. Style for impact:
    • Enable Full screen height in "Layout & Positioning"
    • Enable Overlay with a semi-transparent color
    • Choose a dramatic preset like Black Friday or Blue
    • Increase font sizes for maximum visibility
  7. Set targeting to password page:
    • In the "Targeting" section, check "Password page" under "Show on pages".
    • This is the only targeting needed for the password page.
  8. Configure after expiration:
    • Choose what happens after your store launches:
    • Hide timer: The timer disappears once the store is open.
    • or Show message: Display "We're Now Open!" after launch.
  9. Activate and save: Check "Active" and click "Save".

Preview Your Password Page

To test your password page timer:

  1. Go to Online Store > Preferences.
  2. Enable "Password protection".
  3. Visit your store URL in an incognito window to see the password page with your timer.

Result: Visitors to your password-protected store will see an engaging countdown timer building anticipation for your launch.
